We are looking for a bright and motivated person to join the Materials Science journals’ team as a Senior Publisher. You are responsible for maintaining, improving and expanding a high-revenue and high-impact portfolio of journals (both open access and hybrid) and related products in the field of materials engineering. Our team is part of the STMJ Physical Sciences (PS) group.

You understand the importance of building and maintaining a strong network both with and beyond current Elsevier editors, authors and societies. Due to your experience within the Publishing industry you can also easily participate in complex industry discussions with high level external stakeholders. Furthermore, you demonstrate the ability to work independently and focus on being a lead example to (Associate) Publishers.

You will be part of a dedicated team of publishers and editors located in Elsevier offices in Amsterdam, Beijing, Berlin, Boston, Chennai, London, Oxford, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, and will report to a Publishing Director.

**Responsibilities**:

- Have overall responsibility for the journal product portfolio with emphasis on content growth (both subscription and open access) and quality strategy
- Stay up to date with developments in the external market ensuring your journal portfolio remains fully competitive and the first choice for authors looking to publish their work
- Manage content growth organically and by (title) acquisition as well as managing innovation of content formats and content extensions and channels
- Negotiate and manage contractual relationships with third party journal owners and/or journal editors
- Make an immediate impact and build and maintain a strong international network both with, and beyond, current Elsevier editors, reviewers, authors and societies
- Support team with the expansion and development of the existing network/market share in emerging market
- Contribute to complex industry discussions with university/research industry stakeholders
- Identify and map market needs and business opportunities
- Develop and when feasible acquire new products and services, including society journals and conferences

Required educational level and experience:

- University degree
- Fluent English speaker
