We are seeking an enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Nurse (General or Children's) _or_ Graduate with appropriate qualifications and experience to join our well established Regional Clinical Genetics Service, based at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. These fixed term posts would be ideal for someone wishing to gain experience of working in a Genetics service.

Main duties of the job

Our service provides outpatient services across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire. The role will involve gathering family history information from families by telephone in a sensitive and caring manner to facilitate their genetic counselling assessment; arranging blood tests; supporting clinicians in obtaining informed consent for WGS genetic testing and contacting other professionals for further information.

The post-holder will be expected to work closely alongside our multidisciplinary team to assist in running our clinics in an effective and time-sensitive manner, and also to contribute to good governance and other core service roles, e.g. auditing or maintenance of resuscitation equipment.

Person specification

**Qualifications**:
Essential criteria
- Nursing / Other relevant Degree
- Equivalent experience

Experience

Essential criteria
- Signficant post-qualification experience at Band 5 (or AHP equivalent) in a patient/client-facing setting
- Confidence in dealing with staff, patients and the general public.

Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in a Regional Clinical Genetics department
- Familiarity with electronic health records systems

Communication

Essential criteria
- Excellent verbal, writing & telephone skills
- An appreciation of the impact of inherited disease on patients and their families.
- An ability to work alone and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Desirable criteria
- Demonstrate evidence of providing formal teaching sessions

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
