**Duties and responsibilities**: Clinical: Assess and support young carers with mild to moderate mental health difficulties; there is specific focus on young carer difficulties as well as wider mental health challenges for young people Undertake person centred assessments, by visiting schools (by phone, online or face to face) which identify the areas where the carer wishes to see change or recovery and make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others Offer a range of choice about treatment options based on the least burden of intervention appropriate to need and provide a range of short term evidence based low intensity psychological treatment interventions in accordance with NICE guidance. Interventions may include information, guided self help and group CBT. This work may be face to face, telephone or via other media Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as appropriate Create wellbeing resources for parents, schools and other professionals Plan and deliver wellbeing workshops/events at a time that suit young carers Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or young carers receiving interventions where appropriate Complete all requirements relating to data collection and recording of clinical activity in line with service protocols Work closely with other members of departmental teams and with local mental health providers ensuring that appropriate step up and step down arrangements are in place in line with the stepped care approach Work collaboratively with all departments, contributing professional expertise, to develop colleagues knowledge and skills in relation to carer mental health Contribute to case supervision for young carer support worker colleagues Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and deliver young carer group and learning activities to promote young carer wellbeing Professional: Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times, within Carers in Bedfordshire's Confidentiality policy Implement Carers in Bedfordshire Safeguarding policies and procedures Ensure that all data processed or recorded in respect of clients is accurate Engage in and respond to clinical/managerial supervision to improve competency and clinical practice Participate in annual appraisal and respond to agreed objectives Ensure clear objectives and activity levels are identified, discussed and reviewed with clinical supervisors and Young Carer Coordinator on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development Record and maintain outcomes and produce a bi-annual detailed report Maintain an up to date knowledge of treatment and support services available for clients Be aware of and keep up to date with advances in the treatment for mild to moderate mental health problems Represent Carers in Bedfordshire in local forums as requested Other responsibilities: Ensure personal information is collected, stored, and managed appropriately ensuring confidentiality of information as appropriate, including compliance with GDPR legislation and guidelines Ensure central information systems are up-to-date including shared and personal calendars Monitor and maintain a safe and secure working environment at all times. Participate in training and other organisational briefings and activities and maintain an up to date knowledge of carers needs and Carers in Bedfordshires services Attend regular supervision sessions and staff/team meetings Undertake such personal learning and development as may be required to keep up to date and fulfil professional requirements Have a collaborative and flexible approach to work Evening, weekend working and school holidays are expected as part of your normal designated hours, and occasional nights away from home may be required Additional Duties: This job description is not exhaustive and serves to highlight the main requirements of the post holder.
