**Early Years Apprentice ST ANDREWS CENTRE**
St Andrews Centre is based in Brockley, and provides a wide range of childcare, play and youth work services for the local community which include; nursery, play and stay sessions, after school club, and holiday play schemes and youth groups. The Nursery is registered for children aged from 2 - 5 years old and is open between 8.00 a.m. until 6pm. After school and youth groups are facilitated from 3pm and 9pm. St Andrews centre offers a wide range of opportunities to Apprentices undertaking child care qualification.

St Andrews centre offers a wide range of opportunities to Apprentices undertaking child care qualification. Those appointed would be expected to engage in the range of provisions provided within the centre to maximise experience of working with children and young people.

Mon-Fri Term Time Only, shift pattern to be agreed at interview
Total hours per week: 35 hours a week

**What will the apprentice be doing?**
- To work as part of a team to maintain good communication with other staff members to ensure the effective running of groups. Specifically, this includes working with children under five.
- To provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment for children and young people including appropriate materials and equipment which encourage them to actively participate, and which promotes each child’s individual developmental needs, consistent with the aims of the organisation.
- To act responsibly in the supervision of the children in his/her responsibility and to show care and concern for their behaviour and safety whilst using the project.
- To be responsible for ensuring that the children’s environment is safe and hygienic and to report any areas of concern, as necessary, to mentor and Line Managers.
- To ensure that all children are treated with equal respect and that each child’s racial origin, culture, religious and linguistic background is promoted and given full consideration.
- To ensure that considerations of gender and ability are given equally respect, and to be aware of each child’s individual needs in general.
- The person appointed would be expected to support children to develop to their full potential by providing and supporting children to scaffold their learning through sustained shared thinking and quality interactions. To keep regular detailed profiles and produce six monthly reviews of children’s developmental progress.
- To assist in the planning for the provision and replacement of children’s play materials and educational resources, to support the delivery of an early year’s curriculum within the foundation stage.
- To keep detailed and accurate records and observations on key children in your care.
- To be conversant with the policies and procedure of the organisation, and act professionally always.
- To be conversant with safeguarding procedures, and report all concerns relating to the welfare of children to the Nursery Manager / Deputy.
- To attend and take part in regular staff meetings, and in-house training.
- To take up opportunities of training when offered, to extend personal development and ensure the Centre’s needs are met.
- To share in the planning, preparation and clearing of all under-fives activities.
- To ensure outside activities are maintained and provided for the children’s use daily.
- To participate in any domestic duties which arise in Centre life.
**What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?**
You will be working towards your Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification, with the support of your LMP Education Tutor and your workplace mentor
You will have monthly reviews with your tutor at LMP Education and all training sessions (1 per week) will be delivered remotely online via teams
Apprentices must successfully complete a first aid qualification in line with the requirements of the EYFS Framework
Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking their end point assessment
