The National Data Resource is a platform bringing together data about health and social care services from across Wales. It makes the information easier to access, share and analyse, so users can make informed decisions, whether they are health professionals or patients. Bringing together data from a variety of sources, the NDR makes it possible to improve the accuracy and timeliness of diagnoses, while impowering patients to manage their own healthcare.

As a Principal Data Steward for the NDR, you will be responsible for developing an all-Wales data catalogue ensuring all data feeds are well documented, the quality of data is understood, and each data item is described to ensure that it is used as intended. The post holder will manage data and determine its reliability with the help of the wider team.

As a key member of the Information Design and Standards Development team, the post holder will link with Welsh Government, other teams within DHCW and the wider NHS.

The post holder will take responsibility for developing, planning, and implementing strategies and contributing to the business planning processes for DHCW.

**Some of the key duties include**:
Leading on the analysis of data quality, integrity, context and classification, establishing a toolkit to support these processes.

Managing master data, reference data, data quality, metadata, and the provision of curated data for analytics.

Leading the strategic development and day-to-day management of the data catalogue.

Protecting patient data from unauthorised access, i.e. encrypting data or resting access.

Reviewing key documents, strategies, test plans, data, cases and scripts.

Establishing data stewardship governance, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality, consistency and efficiency and delivery of the NHS Wales Data Strategy.

This post is fixed term for 12 months to meet the needs of the service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
