About the role
A vacancy has arisen for a motivated individual to help fulfil the Council’s statutory searches function, delivering in a fast-paced but rewarding role in the Highway Records Team. We have a strong can-do culture motivated by protecting the Highway Authority’s interests and achieving the best outcomes for our customers and stakeholders.

The Searches Assistant role is in our busy Highway Records Team, which deals with thousands of requests for highway-related information each year. Cambridgeshire is one of the fastest growing areas in the country and the advertised role is central to the Council’s response to demand in the housing market, delivering accurate and timely information to purchasers of land and property, developers, utilities firms and other parties with a stake in the County’s growth.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team and become an essential part of the conveyancing process. The post holder will be responsible for answering all CON29 enquiries of the authority, alongside a range of other queries, and will also support the Team to deliver its core records and data management projects.

What will you be doing?
You will support the Team and the wider Highways Maintenance Service in providing an accurate and efficient searches function that is fully cost-recoverable. Using a range of different software packages, you will:

- work with partner organisations to ensure key delivery timeframes are met and that our various customers and stakeholders are satisfied,
- respond to colleague enquiries and to support the delivery of specialist records management and data improvement projects, and
- develop your knowledge of the geography of the entire County, highway records and legal principles relating to the highway records.
