Inventya is leading on Innovate UK (IUK) Scaleup Programme. This role is an opportunity for a high calibre, experienced business leader to directly contribute to driving productivity growth in the UK. This role will be seconded to our funder Innovate UK where the individual will work closely with the Innovate UK business growth team and will report to the Head of Scaleup and Innovation Management.

Job Purpose: The role holder will have management responsibility for Innovate UK Business Growth Scaleup activity and maintaining its relevance to client needs and market demand; developing and managing delivery of the relevant operational frameworks required to implement Innovate UK Business Growth strategic objectives and commitments.

**Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities**:

- Lead on the development of the Innovate UK Business Growth scaleup offer in line with the objectives set out in the Innovate UK Plan for Action/Corporate Delivery Strategy and Business Growth objectives
- Design, develop and lead appropriate structures within Innovate UK Business Growth overall support offer, to oversee the delivery of scaleup activity (e.g., Scale Up Programme, Non-Executive Director initiative)
- Identify supporting tools/software, consortium training needs, manage any related procurement and provide strategic support on the development and roll out of new scaleup initiatives
- Work with the Innovate UK Business Growth Service Design and Engagement team and wider reach and engagement functions to ensure the scaleup offer is communicated clearly to internal and external stakeholders, and all materials relating to the support are consistent with Innovate UK Business Growth strategy
- Ensure that Innovate UK Business Growth scaleup offer is aligned and engaged with activity in other parts of Innovate UK
- Develop and maintain a broad understanding of the scaleup ecosystem, working closely with partners and stakeholders
- Work with the Delivery Operations Leads to ensure that internal operational frameworks, processes and governance are in place to support the consortium to deliver scaleup activities
- Line management responsibility for the Product Specialist Scaleup

Essential Requirements**:

- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or relevant equivalent experience
- Familiar with the UK innovation scaleup ecosystem(s), barriers, drivers and opportunities and roles of key public sector players
- Experience of working with multiple stakeholders and competing demands where there is a high degree of ambiguity in the boundaries between them
- Experience of developing and implementing new processes and organisational change
- Experience of developing large scale business support programmes to promote innovation and growth at scale

**Desirable Requirements**:

- Experience in a senior management role in a business support environment, professional, business services organisation, or of running own business
- Experience of or interest in science, technology and innovation and its role in society and economic performance

- Ability and experience of working without close direction to overcome challenges in order to deliver against tight, inflexible deadlines whilst maintaining high standards
- A confident, articulate and resilient individual with a pro-active approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Capable of identifying the right approach to the challenge in hand and translating that approach into effective delivery; yet be able to deal with ambiguity and handle sensitive situations
- Ability to assimilate new, complex financial, business or technical information quickly and explain in non-technical terms key aspects of any given topic
- Proven stakeholder management skills, comfortable liaising with all levels of a delivery team and senior internal and external stakeholders
- Persuasive and personable with developed negotiating, written and verbal communication skills. The ability to quickly build rapport with colleagues and the capacity to influence colleagues
