Overview:
As part of a successful Management team this is a hands-on role reporting to the Food Safety and Quality Manager.

The role holder will be responsible for providing a service to the operational team, that ensures all aspects of the daytime hygiene activities are managed in an effective and efficient way.

The individual will manage a team of hygiene operatives throughout the day and work closely with the night shift hygiene supervisor to ensure that all hygiene activities are completed.

Standard days of work are Monday to Friday although the organising of weekend activity will be a fundamental part of the role. Varied working hours as business requires, earliest start 5am and latest finish 5 pm - 8 working hours per day.

Specialist training will be given where required.

**Responsibilities**:

- Supervision and leadership of the Day Cleaning Team.
- Adopting a proactive team approach.
- Reducing departmental/site costs where possible without compromise to product quality, safety or legality.
- Ensuring Hygiene standards within all areas are checked, ready for production commencing.
- Arrange re-cleaning of any areas found not to have been cleaned to the required standard highlighted by the pre-operational checks, thus allowing production to commence.
- Carry out scheduled daily, weekly and monthly checks/audits in order to confirm Hygiene standards are being met. Responsible for signing off cleaning as being conducted to the required standard.
- Manage and control the Day Hygiene budget in relation to hygiene costs, water & other resources, and staffing costs.
- Completion and sign off of all relevant documentation (cleaning schedules, cleaning diary, etc.).
- To keep up to date with all relevant hygiene requirements determined by the site technical team, and customer requirements, and cascade this knowledge to the Team.
- Build and develop interdepartmental relationships between day shift and night shift.
- To ensure that the departmental KPIs for hygiene agreed with site technical are conducted.
- Ensure the Day Hygiene Team are adequately prepared for customer visits and audits.
- To actively promote best practice and strive for Hygiene standards of excellence by identifying and implementing corrective actions for non-conformances raised by daily pre-operational hygiene audits and microbiological failures.
- Monitor usage and distribution of cleaning chemicals to include the correct strengths of chemicals to prevent wastage, and ensure costs are controlled and cleaning is effective.
- Ensure that Safety Data (COSSH) Sheets are held for chemicals used, this must be assessable for the hygiene team.
- Responsible for ensuring training is conducted and regular assessments are completed on staff performance.
- Enforce the correct usage of PPE and conduct regular risk assessments and maintain health and safety standards.
- Supervising onsite Laundry operations; ensuring PPE is cleaned daily in preparation for following day production.
- Coordination of Cleaning Schedules of site amenities to include toilet facilities and Canteens, ensuring hygiene point dispensers (soap, sanitising gel, paper towel, bin bags, etc.) is kept replenished.
- Ensure all bins are continuously emptied as required, in the designated production and non-production areas and that empty bins are replenished with new bags.
- Ensuring appropriate segregation and disposal of waste as required.
- General dry and wet cleaning as and when required.

Qualifications:

- Is able to illustrate a proven track record in a team leading and supervisory role, from within a food manufacturing environment.
- Will have a clear understanding of food hygiene, food safety, HACCP and health and safety.
- Should have experienced COSHH training and be capable of ensuring the team operate within all COSHH guidelines.
- Is able to demonstrate strong people management and team training skills.
- Has excellent organisational skills with ability to plan workloads and schedules effectively to meet deadlines are required.
- Will have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, possess strong Leadership skills, be confident and committed and able to accept responsibility.
- Will have experience of audits ideally BRC and retail customers.
