**Please refer to attached job description and person specification for full job main duties** The role involves working with staff from all relevant disciplines to promote safe, appropriate and economic use of blood components. Ensuring the Trust fulfils the requirements of Better Blood Transfusion (HSC 2002/09), recommendations from the National Blood Transfusion Committee on Patient Blood Management (2014); NICE guidance (NG24) and the EU directive on blood safety (2002-98-EC). Main responsibilities are: To provide education and training to all staff involved in the transfusion process. To assist in the running of the iron deficiency anaemia service, managed by the transfusion practitioner team To provide advice and direction to medical and nursing staff for the diagnosis, management and treatment of transfusion reactions, adverse events and near miss events associated with blood transfusion To assist the lead transfusion practitioner in analysing, interpreting, implementing and evaluating data such as: national policies, guidelines and recommendations To carry out clinical audit as requested by external bodies (e.g., NHSBT) and as required by the Trust to evaluate practice
