The Smart Works service is delivered in London, Greater Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Newcastle, Reading and Leeds. Over the past ten years, Smart Works has helped over 30,000 women. It is our mission that any woman who needs our service should be able to find her way to a Smart Works centre.

In April 2022, we launched a new Three-Year Plan that will see the charity double the number of women helped annually from 5,000 to 10,000 women. To achieve this, we will grow our existing centres and open new centres in key areas of need across the UK.

With three London centres, in North, West and South London, we help women from every London Borough and beyond. London also acts as Smart Works HQ and supports local centres across the Group.

About the opportunity

This is a temporary, casual opportunity at an upcoming pop-up shop in Covent Garden throughout March 2024.

We require two Retail Assistants, who will work directly with their shop team to ensure the successful day-to-day running of the pop-up. The shop opening hours will be between 10:00 - 20:00 Monday to Saturday, with Sunday operating on reduced hours approximately 11:00 - 18:00. The successful individuals will be required to invoice us for their time.

The Smart Works Shop is a key fundraising initiative, taking place throughout the year at various locations. The Shop brings together donations from brands and individuals, which are then sold in a premium shopping experience, at a discounted price. 100% of the proceeds go directly to Smart Works, supporting unemployed women with the clothing, coaching and confidence needed to get the job and transform their lives.

They will help to provide an excellent shopping experience for our customers through effective sales and by providing strong customer service. They will support with preparatory work before opening the shop and after close, with activities including but not limited to: steaming clothes, creating rails, re-stocking the floor and conducting basic till operations. Occasional evening and weekend work is required to lead and support the shop.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in retail or merchandising and supporting the running of a shop floor. If you are a team player and flexible individual, we would love to hear from you.

**Responsibilities**:

- Supporting the Retail Manager and volunteers with the smooth running of the shop.
- Receiving, unpacking and organising deliveries from the Wardrobe Team.
- Providing strong customer experience, answering questions or queries.
- Participate in pre-sale training to understand operating processes.
- Support on achieving sales goals and targets.
- Cleaning and rearranging the shop during service and after close.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members, ensuring the floor is organised at all times.

**Skills you should have**

Essential Criteria
- Demonstrable experience in retail and or merchandising.
- Proven experience supporting the running of a shop floor.
- Flexible can-do attitude and a good team player.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.

Desirable Criteria
- Experience of digital payment systems.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.

Terms and conditions
- Temporary casual opportunity, at our Covent Garden pop-up between 1st - 24th March 2024.
- Hourly rate of £13.15.
- Monday - Sunday shifts available, in line with shop opening times.
- All successful applicants must provide two satisfactory references.
- Able to attend pre-opening training sessions (dates to be confirmed).
