Conservation Officer

Swale Borough Council is the services of an experienced conservation & design professional with significant local government experience, to work alongside the Conservation & Design Team Manager and Senior Conservation & Design Officer (Projects) and take the lead role in handling the development management function workload of the team, under the guidance of the team’s manager seeking quotations to carry out reviews of the two conservation areas in the Swale Borough at Rodmersham Green Tunstall to the south east of Sittingbourne.

The role will be mainly home working but with the occasional site visit.

**Term**: 8 months

**Rate**: £37.26 per hour

**Location**: Hybrid

**Requirements**:

- Ability to be proactive in the promotion of high-quality design and conservation work.
- An understanding of Planning and conservation Legislation.
- Awareness of current Urban Design and Conservation best practice.
- Excellent influencing and negotiating skills when working with developers and applicants to promote high quality Conservation and Design solutions.
- Experience of carrying out negotiations on design and conservation matters with developers and their consultants.
- Significant demonstrable work experience in a Conservation role.
- A Concern For The Environment And Understanding Of Conservation Issues
- Conservation And Listed Buildings
- Knowledge of local government
- Local Government experience
