We are looking for a Data Protection Coordinator to join our team.

Where in Wellcome will I be working?

You will sit within the wider Ethics, Governance and Compliance team. We work to catalyse and sustain a culture of integrity across Wellcome, through compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, ethical, and good governance requirements, to ensure that, as an organisation, we focus on 'how' we do things and not just 'what' we do.

You’ll be reporting to Data Protection Lead and help to ensure that Wellcome complies with applicable requirements under the Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR and other relevant data protection law, across its activities.

What will I be doing?

We are looking for a Data Protection Coordinator to work across the organisation, supporting the business with new initiatives and helping to create a culture where personal data is protected and valued.

As a Data Protection Coordinator, you will:
- Champion data protection within Wellcome: promote a culture of data protection best practice at all organisational levels, through appropriate, proactive communication and awareness-raising.- Be the first point of contact for enquiries from staff and external stakeholders on issues relating to data protection practices.- Support the organisation in assessing their data protection risks, providing specialist, responsive, risk-based advice to ensure compliance with the law, and that privacy is protected in all our activities.-
- Facilitate training and develop guidance for teams to help them in making the right decisions about the personal data that they use.- Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.

You should be someone who has a passion for improving privacy, while being proactive, approachable, and pragmatic.

We are looking for someone who has:
- Awareness and understanding of UK Privacy Law, including the Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations- Experience and awareness of conducting and maintaining privacy risk assessments, such as data protection impact assessments, legitimate impact assessments, data transfers risk assessments and records of processing- Experience of development and roll out of engaging training programmes and communications.- Proven ability of working with a diverse set of stakeholders and supporting multiple, varied projects across different teams.- Strong networking skills, stakeholder engagement, influencing and facilitation skills, and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion.
