**Position: Teaching Assistant**
**Location: Penarth**
**Contract: Permanent**
**Hours: Full time 39hrs/week - Term time only**
**Start date: 5th September**
**Salary : £19,300 pro rata’d to £16,482**
Reed education are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to work within a residential special school based in Penarth, which caters for pupils between the ages of 7 and 19, who have an emotional, social and behavioural difficulties and a range of associatedneeds. As a Teaching Assistant, you will also supervise lunches, some breaks and accompany pupils on school trips and activities.
You will provide a high level of support for the teaching and learning of the pupils and the care and maintenance of all classroom equipment and materials whilst maintaining appropriate boundaries with young people and professional relationships with colleaguesand other professionals.
**The role**:
- Assist pupils to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and individually and support them in developing an understanding of their needs.
- Ensure that pupils are kept safe (i.e. by intervening in the approved manner, if the young people are unable to control themselves).
- Assist with class teacher in the development of a suitable programme of educational social and emotional support for all pupils.
- Participate in the evaluation of the support programme and to provide regular feedback about progress to the teacher while contributing to the maintenance of pupil records.
- Liaise, advise and consult with other members of the team supporting the pupils when asked to do so
- Contribute to reviews of children's progress, as appropriate.
- Achieve the highest standards of safeguarding, whether through direct care provision or support activities to the children and young people who encounter our services, or by appropriately reporting concerns about any child or young person.
- Promote our equality and diversity strategy locally, including linking with local equality and diversity frameworks to ensure best practice and to inform and develop appropriate action plans.
- Demonstrate a willingness and ability to operate within a constantly changing environment and as such work priorities and targets may change.
- Undertake such other duties that occasionally arise
- Be familiar and compliant with health, environmental and safety policies, and procedures. In the event of any serious risk, take immediate action to reduce this risk and inform senior management.
**What we need from you**:
- Experience in working with individuals with, EMH, SEBD, ADHD, etc.
- Provide feedback and assistance to the teachers.
- Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours
- DBS registered and on the update service
- Registered with the EWC
