**Job summary**:
The National Covert Internet Targeting team (NCIT) use advanced and innovative open source techniques to conduct Covert Internet Investigations, targeting high threat Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) offenders operating on the clear and dark web.

As an Online Covert Tactical Advisor in NCIT, the post holder will be responsible for developing and embedding training for the team, and providing operational support to online investigations targeting offenders engaged in high risk CSA criminality.

**Job description**:
NCIT are looking for an experienced online investigator with a strong understanding of covert tactics, Covert Human Intelligence Sources (CHIS), the use of virtual currencies, and the exploitation of encrypted online services such as dark web marketplaces and CSA platforms.

The post holder will also be required to support strategic research into emerging and existing online threats relating to CSA to enhance and support operational knowledge.

NCIT operates standard working hours from Monday to Friday. However, operational requirements mean that on occasion you will be required to be flexible about these hours.

**Person specification**:
The role of NCIT is to tackle high risk, high harm Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) offenders on the Dark and Clear web.

The OCTA role is responsible for developing and embedding training for a team of advanced OSINT intelligence officers tasked with intelligence collection through covert internet investigation techniques. This can vary from providing advice and guidance on live online investigations, to delivering training and CPD inputs to support team development and ensure best practice.

The work NCIT conduct utilising covert internet investigations combines the speed and efficiency of open-source intelligence with the opportunity to exploit information kept behind closed doors away from open source intelligence practitioners. It is a challenging role and it requires a lot of resilience but can be extremely rewarding.

**Qualifications**:

- UCOL or Cover officer training and accreditation.

- Experience of training and / or coaching inexperienced officers in the use of advanced covert internet investigation techniques.
- A strong understanding and experience of working with open source intelligence and its ability to assist in serious and organised crime investigations.
- Advanced understanding of legislation affecting Agency activity in particular PACE, RIPA, DPIA, GDPR and CPIA
