The Lantern Community is home to 53 resident Companions (adults with diverse abilities) and more than 20 Day placements from the local area. We offer meaningful day opportunities during the week, across our 9 Workshops including Art & Craft, Weavery and Pottery.

**About the role**:
To support holistic development of adults with diverse learning abilities, record and celebrate their journey to fulfil their full potential.

To provide and facilitate a variety of Craft activities and experiences to Companions in a workshop setting. Ensuring the projects offered are supporting the needs of the individual as well as ensuring the stability of the group.

To work alongside Companions (residents) in the Lantern Community workshops, directing, supporting and facilitating the tasks that need to be done, whilst ensuring that the Companions are involved in meaningful work as part of the team

**Main responsibilities of the role are**:

- To assist the Workshop Team Leader/s to prepare workshop
- To take guidance from the Workshop Team Leaders / or from the Assistant Team Leader in the workshop, in the Team Leaders absence who will communicate tasks that need to be done.
- Communicating effectively and enabling Companions to make informed choices regarding their work and to maximize their role as members of the team.

**About you**:

- Flexible in their working hours and able to cover at short notice.
- A warm, person-centred approach with the ability to engage in a positive way, with people with diverse learning abilities.
- Experience of providing support to people with learning disabilities, including Autism or other support needs.
- Good verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work positively as part of a team in a unique environment.
- Good written communication skills, with an ability to contribute to a record keeping system.

**Education**:

- A-Level or equivalent (preferred)
- Craft Qualification (preferred)
- Portfolio require

**Experience**:

- Social care: 2 years (preferred)
- Craft work: 2 years (preferred)
