We are seeking talented individuals that want to join us as NEC Supervisors, that can work with us in our highways and Ports division. We are actively seeking people that have transferable skills and that perhaps wouldn’t have considered the ports sector in the past to support us in driving change and diverse thinking in the industry.
Core elements of the role may include:
- Work closely with the Project Manager throughout the project.
- Support the Project Manager to ensure successful delivery of the project or programme, achieving high client satisfaction scores.
- Monitor the works to ensure site activities comply with the stage gate process, relevant rules, regulations, standards and all applicable procedures and legislation.
- Review, in conjunction with the Project Manager, the contractor’s Quality Management Plan, Inspection and Test Plans, method statements and site-specific risk assessments.
- Act as the day-to-day site representative to ensure that the contractor’s site activities are conducted in a safe and efficient manner with minimum impact on the environment and client/customer operations, and the work is of a high standard and in accordance with the relevant Works Information and latest best practices.
- Agree on an ongoing basis with the contractor the inspection and testing activities to be witnessed.
- Agree with the contractor arrangements for inspection and testing of equipment manufactured offsite.
- Monitor by a programme of regular pre-arranged inspections the quality of the contractor’s work. Where required, in conjunction with the Project Manager, instruct the contractor in accordance with the contract. Where remedial actions are required monitor so that non-conformance reports raised are closed out in an auditable and timely manner. Direct changes as appropriate.
- Monitor by liaison with the client operations team whether arrangements for access, storage, worksites etc. have been made to facilitate the efficient completion of the works.
- Inspect completed works and survey for the readiness of portions of the work for inspection and for the recording of the outcome and the control of any remedial works required.
- Monitor to contractor’s inspection and test records, and as-built drawings on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance with the approved Quality Management Plan and the contract requirements.
- Monitor the contractor’s management of site works by regular site meetings at which details of the locations of, nature of, and number of staff to be employed upon each element of the work shall be established for the period until the next meeting.
- Monitor progress of the works by regular site visits and inspections, comparing work in progress with contract documentation, and information given at site meetings and with the overall contract programme. Escalate unresolved issues to the Project Manager promptly.
- Maintain a regular and frequent site presence and continually monitor, and correct where necessary, the standard and methods of work, being always vigilant for inadequacies.
- Maintain a detailed site diary and database of site progress photographs.
- Support the Project Manager with input to the assessment of Compensation Events.
- Support the Project Manager with drafting of the quality section of monthly progress reports.
- Support the Project Manager with input to weekly and monthly progress meetings.
- Encourage an awareness of the importance of HSQE and good workmanship by regular communication with all contractors’ site staff.
- Participate in joint safety tours with the Project Manager and Principal Contractor.
- Contributing to the review of project performance and production of reporting to drive continuous improvement.
