**Job Purpose**
To develop, lead and sustain an international standard in Computing Science Education research including appropriate knowledge exchange activities, to actively engage in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level in CS Education, and to play a role in developing and executing School strategy, management and organisation.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Develop and progress individual/joint research projects of international standard in CS Education research with the support of a mentor, as required.
3. Enhance the research programme of the Centre for Computing Science Education by playing a leadership role in developing and implementing the Centre’s strategy.
5. Contribute to the on-going development and design of the curriculum in CS Education, including a Masters programme, in a manner that supports a research-led and scholarly approach to student learning and assessment in the discipline and/or profession.
6. Take a leading role in the training and support of GTA (Graduate Teaching Assistant) staff.
7. Participate fully in examination and other assessment processes, as appropriate, using a variety of methods and techniques and to provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support their learning.
8. Contribute to the development of theory and practice in CS Education research.
9. Supervise individual student projects at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, and contribute to the supervision and training of postgraduate research students, as appropriate, to ensure their effective development.
11. Engage in continuing professional development activities as appropriate.
12. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of School.
13. To contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s Strategic Plan, Inspiring People Changing The World.

**Qualifications**

**Essential**:

A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12 [PhD] in the area of CS Education, or equivalent professional and/or teaching experience in a similar or related role.

**Desirable**:

B1 Teaching/education qualification at school or university level.

**Knowledge, Skills & Experience**

**Essential**:
C2 Ability to communicate material of a specialist or highly technical nature and to be effective both orally and in writing at a level appropriate to the activity.
C4 Developing track record of research outputs in CS Education compatible with enhancing the School’s research profile in accordance with School objectives.
C8 Effective organisation skills to manage time and prioritise as appropriate research, teaching and administrative responsibilities.

**Terms and Conditions**
Salary will be Grade 7, £37,474 - £42,155 per annum.
This post is full time and open ended.
