Trust in Soda has partnered with a rapidly growing life sciences company who are looking for a strong Director of Product Design (UI/UX) to be a core part of their journey to build the future insight and knowledge generation platform for their industry.

Reporting to the VP of Product Management and working closely with the Commercial, Innovation & Engineering teams you will be responsible for all product design activities (UI and UX) and the results delivered by the product design team.

You will have to ensure that these key product design individuals are highly engaged and supported in their professional development. You will be expected to mentor, and foster innovation in order to create and deliver products that improve customer interaction,experience and value.

Responsibilities will include:

- Provide strong leadership to the Product Design team and take the responsibility for all of the product design (UI/UX) efforts.
- Lead a team of experienced Product Design professionals including: UX, Research, Interaction Design and Visual Design
- Support the VP of Product Management in the development and delivery of a design strategy to support the Product Strategy and Product Roadmap
- Collaborate effectively across teams especially with Product Managers, Architects, PMO, Sales, and technology teams to deliver a meaningful, intuitive, user-friendly & scalable platform experience
- Understand market requirements and customer expectations and needs within the life science research area, with focus on the microbiome and genomics in target industries (Food, Personal Care, Ag-bio, Bio-Pharma)
- Partner with Product Managers to build the design system and ensure governance and processes in order to maintain adherence to the design system, and measure and monitor the health of the design system
- Encourage the design team to contribute to ideas, building and maintaining a team culture that is based around trust, innovation, iteration, learning, collaboration and sharing.
- Enable the design team to perform at their best by providing clear, precise direction with flexibility for individual creativity.
- Work with design and engineering teams to translate ideas into concepts, prototypes & products driving new business opportunities and customer value

**Requirements**:
Your Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

- M.Sc. in Product Design, Computer Science, Engineering and/or related field or equivalent experience
- Experience as a Director of Product Design, Director of UX, or similar, ideally working on complex B2B cloud platforms
- Demonstrable experience of successfully engaging and driving collaboration with internal stakeholders, acting as an evangelist for product management across the company
- Experience managing product design teams in a scale-up and/or enterprise environment
- Ability to effectively communicate decisions backed with strong business and product rationale to internal and external stakeholders
- Enthusiasm for pushing the boundaries by defining and driving innovative product ideas
- Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Proven success in building relationships across key stakeholders on all levels
- Awareness of Agile processes & principles
- Expertise in the use of a wide range of relevant design software, e.g. Adobe XD, Figma, Sketch, Axure
- Gravitas to influence diverse stakeholder groups

Desirable Skills and Experience:

- Experience with B2B platforms/marketplaces in the life science sector
- Experience in a fast-paced scale up environment
