**Essential**:Experience of working with children or adults with physical and learning disabilities. Waking Night Care Experience. Non-smoker / vaper.
**Desirable**: Experience of BiPap machine, SATs machine and PEG feeding. Knowledge of epilepsy.
**Start Date**: ASAP.
**Days & Hours**: Two waking nights per week: 8.00pm to 9.00am. (Rota is written 4-6 weeks in advance).

**Family/Client Pets**: 3 Hypo-allergenic cockapoos.
**Accommodation**: Separate studio flat accommodation available for between shifts if required.

**About this client/child**:
Nile (16) lives at home with his Mum, Dad, brother (15) and Sister (10), in a fully adapted house. He attends a local SEN school part time, an evening buddy club, as well as social clubs on the weekend. Nile enjoys movies, arts and crafts, music, and outdoor walks, as well as bowling, Boccia and other social outings. Nile has quadriplegic cerebral palsy, visual impairment, epilepsy (controlled with medication) and sleep apnea. Nile requires 24/7 care for all aspects of his care needs, including medication, PEG feeding, and BiPap machine, all personal care and showering.

**Overview of role**:
Nile requires a waking night carer to monitor him whilst he uses a BiPap and SATs machine and to administer and record his medications. The carer will be in an adjoining room with a CCTV monitor to be on hand with immediacy. Nile has medications for epilepsy, and although this is well controlled, he requires someone to be vigilant throughout the night. At the beginning and end of shifts there is a 30-minute handover with another carer so you can catch up on Nile’s day and night. At the beginning of a night shift, both carers will help position and settle Nile comfortably on his BiPap and SATs machine. Throughout the night, Nile requires constant monitoring through a camera and his SATs recorded each hour. There are a few other tasks, such as Nile’s ironing, writing up daily records, stock taking of meds and ordering equipment. In the morning Nile will require all assistance with getting ready for the day; toileting, dressing and medication and food administered through his PEG. This role is for Two nights per week: 8.00pm to 9.00am. £15.00 to £17.00 gross per hour. Please contact us with your availability.

**Who this job would suit**:
This role would suit someone who has experience and is confident working with children or adults with some complex care needs. Although full training will be given to be person specific, a knowledge of administering medication, use of BiPap and SATs machine and as well as experience of all aspects of personal care will be beneficial. This family live in an area where public transport is mínimal and therefore a driver with their own vehicle is essential to be able to get there. The family requires a non-smoker/vaper.
