**The role**

In this exciting high profile role reporting to the Director of Operational Support, you will provide leadership and competent advice to the Chief Operating Officer as the Accountable Officer on behalf of the Charity Executive Committee in all aspects of Health, Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR). You will engage with the Senior Leadership and Operational Management Teams across the Charity.

You will develop relationships with external organisations including, but not limited to statutory authorities, our commissioners, regulators and insurers and other relevant stakeholder organisations as advised by our Chief Operating Officer (COO).

You will ensure the development, design and content of the Charity’s policies, procedures, plans and other relevant documentation required for Health, Safety, Fire and EPRR.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Designing and delivering the Charity’s Health, Safety and EPRR strategy, annual plan and communications strategy
- Providing expert advice, leadership and support on compliance with relevant statutes and regulation to our COO as Accountable Officer
- Leading, managing, mentoring and developing your team of Health and Safety, Fire Safety and EPRR advisors
- Leading and contributing to critical decisions concerning Health, Safety and Compliance
- Leading the design and deliver of our Health, Safety and EPRR competency management framework and working with our Learning and Development experts to design associated training products
- Producing and updating the Major Incident Handbook and overseeing the Strategic/Gold, Tactical/Silver and Operational/Bronze command processes across the Charity.

**About you**

You’ll be an experienced, inspiring and highly resilient Leader with a strong track record of leading Health, Safety and EPRR management systems in large complex, multi-site organisations. You will have delivered high performance and brilliant results through the teams you lead and the work you deliver through periods of complex change.

You will be an excellent communicator with strong relationship management, influencing and negotiation skills. You will be skilled at interpreting new and changing legislation and be highly adept at managing relationships at Board level.

You will be a Chartered Member of IOSH or a relevant EPRR body and qualified to Level 6 (NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent) in Occupational Health and Safety or Qualified in EPRR.
