**Job description**

**Main Purpose of the Role**

Reporting directly to the directors, the bookkeeper is responsible for managing the day-to-day financials of the business, as well as preparing regular management accounts to allow the directors to manage the business effectively. The bookkeeper will work closely with the accounts staff to control the income, expenditure and proactively manage the cash-flow of the business; as well as working with the external accountant to prepare and lodge year end accounts - discussing them with the directors prior to submission.

**Key Tasks**

Responsible for the monthly management accounting cycle for the company and it’s SPVs, including but not limited to:

- Prepare management accounts
- File monthly VAT Returns and other HMRC requirements
- Process monthly payroll
- Check purchase ledger (and assist with input when required)
- Complete Sales Ledger inc. reconciling cash statements on house sales
- Paying creditors
- Advise on creditors and payment priorities
- Complete management accounting pack reviews ensuring adherence to quality standards
- Monitor & check accounts input work from other office staff.
- Develop systems and process controls to provide a robust control environment as per the needs of the company

Reconciling bank statements to SAGE accounts regularly

Perform general clerical duties to include, but not limited to, payroll, bookkeeping, purchase orders, copying, faxing, mailing (include maintaining register), and filing.

Set up, file, and retrieve organisational documents, records and reports.

Co-ordinate and maintain records for staff, office space, telephones, parking, vehicles /site plant* & equipment, material buying, company debit card and office keys. *Vehicles & Plant are inspected by management team and records handed in for filing

Create and modify documents such as invoices, reports, memos, letters and financial statements, including scanning, using word processing, spreadsheet, database and/or other presentation software such as Microsoft Office, or other programs.

**Supplementary Tasks**

Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, helping you and your team generate ideas to develop processes and controls

Complete ad hoc accounting and project work as required - including new client set up, bespoke client reporting requests and investigation of client issues

Work with directors to review and improve on budget control processes

- Crucial Skills/Experience/Qualifications
- High level of competency with SAGE 50 Accounting Software
- Payroll Experience
- Accounts Payable Management Experience
- Good standard of written and spoken English
- Must be eligible to work in the UK
- Key Skills/Experience Desired

Sage Drive Experience

Recognised Accountancy qualification (or working towards) - preferably AAT

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £30,000.00 per year

Schedule:
