**About Us**

Central Bedfordshire is an ambitious authority, determined to be an exemplary one. Our strategic location and high quality of life mean we are one of the fastest growing areas in the country.

As a council we face the same challenges every business does - investing in the right places and delivering great results. Except for us, it’s all about our 289,000 residents. We’re totally focused on helping to improve their lives and making Central Bedfordshire a great place to live and work.

We have set values and principles to represent the way we work and how we operate as an organization. You can view a list of these in detail on our website.

This is a great time to join us on our journey.

**About the role**

The Registration Service plays a key role in the lives of our residents by registering life events and conducting legal and celebratory ceremonies.

We are a small department committed to delivering registration services in line with statutory requirements to the highest standard, providing customers with professional attention and a positive experience.

To maintain our excellent reputation, we are seeking to recruit flexible and self-motivated individuals to join our team of Casual Registration Officers.

In this role you will initially register marriages at approved venues and local religious buildings, progressing to conducting all types of ceremonies in due course, with development and experience. You will carry out your duties with integrity and respect for others and will be responsible for the safe custody of registration schedules.

You will work in conjunction with full time registration staff to provide a range of ceremonies at the Register Office in Ampthill and across Central Bedfordshire. As a casual contract, the role will be undertaken as and when required, to register or conduct ceremonies during the week and at weekends. Our peak periods include school holidays and the summer months.

You will be required to travel throughout Central Bedfordshire to attend ceremonies, together with sharing the responsibility for the collection and return of registration documents to the Register Office in Ampthill. You will be adept at working under time pressures.

To succeed in this role, you will need to be a team player with a flexible approach and have an accurate eye for detail. Educated to AS level or other level 3 qualification, you will bring your own experience and personality to this busy, rewarding, public facing role. You will be dealing with people at emotional times requiring a sensitive approach and an excellent communication manner with small and large groups.

Upon joining us you will receive the training you need to be able to carry out your duties with confidence and to effectively support your colleagues as a ceremony team. You will find your greatness here as you play your part in helping us to deliver this important public service role and be instrumental in ensuring our customers receive the individual respect, care, attention, and service expected at the most significant times in their lives.

We would welcome you to our next open day at Ampthill Court House on Saturday 15th April 2023 14.00-16.00, for an introduction to the Registration Service, the role and to ask any questions.
