**About the Role**
**Base Location**: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:
- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, Belfast or Dublin.
**Salary**: £74,600 - £112,000 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.
**Working Pattern**: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available
An exciting opportunity has arisen in Group Finance to establish and lead a new Finance Controls Centre of Excellence (“CoE”) which will support SSE Finance’s strategic priority to protect, manage and control our business, delivering excellence in financial controls and risk management. Under the Group’s “4 Lines of Defence” approach, the Finance Controls CoE will provide Second Line assurance, SME input and change management support to SSE’s Finance teams.
Reporting to the Group Finance Director and working closely with Group Audit and SSE’s Finance and IT teams, the Head of Financial Controls will be responsible for the oversight, maintenance and ongoing development of SSE’s internal finance control framework well as supporting the Group’s broader assurance strategy.
- Work with Finance, Group Audit and Risk and IT senior leadership to align Finance and IT’s risk management objectives, priorities and activities with SSE’s overall risk strategy, risk appetite and risk culture. Play a leading role in developing policies which impact the risk management framework (e.g. materiality thresholds).
- Own, oversee and manage risk assessment for Finance processes and IT solutions
- Lead a team of SMEs to support the Finance and IT teams in maintaining an ICOFR framework to SSE’s standards and in remediating control gaps
- Own, oversee and lead testing over the design (TOD) and effectiveness (TOE) of controls as well as the Finance controls elements of the GRC tool
- Establish and set up Finance Controls Centre of Excellence and lead through the transitional journey of moving from programme into business as usual.
**What do I need?**
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Extensive years of experience in assurance, controls and/or corporate compliance-related roles including consulting, auditing, risk management (Enterprise, Operational, IT), with a solid amount of experience in leading teams
- Experience in the energy or utilities industry is considered a benefit
- **Required**: Accounting or risk management professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or IIA Certificate_ required_
- **Preferred**: IT professional qualifications such as CISA, CISSP or CISM are _considered a benefit_
