**About The Job**

**Salary**: £23,484 - £25,927 per annum (£22,214 - £24,525 per annum, pro rata'd) plus Saturday working enhancement
**Working Pattern**:Part time, 35 hours per week, working 7.6 hours, every 1 in 2 Saturdays
**Location**:Chichester Library

We have a very exciting opportunity, currently recruiting a permanent Library Officer to join our Chichester Library.

Our Library Officers are based in larger libraries and supervise library teams to deliver outstanding customer service. We are looking for someone with the following skills:

- Excellent people management skills
- A good knowledge of a library or customer service environment and an ability to organise both staff and resources.
- Expertise is in co-ordinating teams of library staff
- Can deal with often challenging queries from the public and ensuring libraries run smoothly

As the Library Officer, you will work closely with the Library / Team Manager and other senior library staff to plan and deliver the service, and may also be involved in county-wide projects and groups.

**Experience and Skills**

**Key Skills**:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to be used with customers and colleagues and act as a point of advice / guidance where appropriate.
- Strong customer focus with the ability to work as a key contact and provide a professional service to meet public needs.
- Excellent digital skills in order to be able to use and train staff to use a range of library systems including the library management system, self-service kiosks and Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to use professional skills to ensure stock and resources meet the needs of customer groups and to escalate issues where appropriate.
- Ability to lead / work as part of a team, completing shared tasks in order to deliver a service to others.
**Qualifications and/or experience**:

- Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification, for example Chartered Librarian, qualified librarian or ACLIP, or demonstrable experience demonstrating that level of numeracy and literacy.
- Good working knowledge of IT systems / procedures.
- Previous experience of delivering a customer-focused library service within an agreed performance measure, preferably in a public library environment.
- Experience of active participation in library initiatives and activities.
- Experience of supervising staff.
