Little Acorns Playgroup is looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and motivated Individual to join our team as an Assistant Practitioner/Childcare Practitioner (dependent on experience and qualification). Our setting runs Monday - Friday during term time and overtime hours are available during school holidays as holiday club hours.

- have good social skills enabling them to talk with Parents/Carers and other professionals
- have good organisational skills and be competent with using a computer
- Be motivated and show initiative
- Have knowledge of children development and how to enhance their skills
- Be knowledgable regarding Safeguarding procedures and their importance
- be willing to undertake further training where necessary
- Be willing to work overtime to cover training, meetings

Essentials:

- Have management/room leader experience with children aged 2-5 years and with leading a team
- Have at least 3 years experience in a childcare setting caring for children aged 2-5 years
- Able to maintain a high level of strict confidentiality
- Be self motivated and enthusiatic
- Ability to work as part of a team and alone
- contribute to the daily aspects of the role
- To provide 2 references

Roles and Responsibilities:

- To be responsible to the Manager/Senior Practitioner
- To ensure the provision offers a safe and stimulating learning environment
- To plan and evaluate activities suitable for the age range of the children
- To work face to face with the children registered at our setting
- To speak with Parents/Carers in a professional manner
- To liaise with other professionals and outside agencies including Children’s Services, Health Visitors, etc
- To supervise snack time refreshments for the children
- To follow guidelines and procedures for Safeguarding in accordance with Little Acorns' policies and procedures.
- To carry out any other duties, which will be seen to enhance the work of our setting

1x post with 32.5h available.

**Salary**: £10.40+ p/h dependent on qualification/experience

**Salary**: £10.40-£10.60 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Newport, NP19 0GT: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Childcare: 3 years (preferred)
- Management/Supervisor/Room Leader: 1 year (preferred)
