**Job overview**:
Salford Community Equipment Service provides equipment to the population of Salford. This equipment enables people to live a more independent life within their own home environment. The provision of equipment can make a huge difference to the quality of a persons independence and is a well regarded service.

We have a team of Support Workers and Technicians and are looking to recruit Decontamination Coordinators to our friendly team.

Salford Equipment Service is part of Independent Living Services working alongside Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists to provide equipment for people within their own homes.

Equipment and Wheelchair Support Workers and Equipment Maintenance Technicians deliver and install equipment and when it is no longer needed the equipment will be returned.

Decontamination Assistants are a new role within this service to ensure that we clean our equipment to a high standard, service the equipment and return it ready to be re-issued in a timely manner. The role of Decontamination Assistant will compliment our other team members and complete our team to ensure our service standards remain high

**Main duties of the job**:
The postholder will be responsible for ensuring that equipment returned to our Equipment store will be decontaminated, tested and returned to our shelves ready for reissuing.

The range of equipment is wide covering walking aids, profiling beds, pressure care, sensory and Telecare equipment.

Decontamination Coordinators will need to be physically capable of lifting equipment into an industrial washer or into a bagging machine.

The main responsibilities of the role will be ensuring the equipment follows a set decontamination process. Servicing and testing equipment and returning it to stock ready for reissue.
