**About the role**:
You will join a busy but friendly and supportive Legal and Information Assurance Team as part of the Planning, Legal and Governance Division, which sits within the portfolio of the Registrar and Secretary. The team provides advice on a variety of matters. Specifically, Legal Services are called upon to advise on a wide range of legal, quasi legal and commercial issues in areas such as advising on and drafting commercial contracts, academic and student exchange agreements, national and international collaboration agreements, disability discrimination, data protection, GDPR, property matters, student conduct cases, intellectual property, dispute resolution, etc., which arise from the University’s academic and non-academic activities. You will work closely with other departments, such as Estates and Digital Services, Student Conduct and Complaints, Future Students Office and our Research and Enterprise Division.

A primary element of the role will be to provide advice concerning commercial legal risk. Albeit part of a team, you will be required to work independently and provide clear, pragmatic and accessible advice, as well as assist team members.

**About you**:
A qualified Solicitor or Barrister, who is flexible, adaptable and who will be open to the challenge of a wide variety of legal work.

Experience of the HE sector is desirable but not imperative and so those with relevant transferable experience in other sectors, such as local or central government, private practice, in-house, or chambers, would be welcome to apply. Part time and job share will also be considered.
