Peterborough, United Kingdom Longhurst Group Full time

**Would you like to start a career within Mental Health? Are you looking to make a return to this area of work.**

Eastfield Road, based in Peterborough is now welcoming individuals on a relief basis who would like to develop or continue work in our sector. We support individuals who have mental health issues to maintain their independence and connect with their community. Our team of Outreach Workers provide a friendly contact for those who may be experiencing isolation or have support needs.

**The vacancy**

In your role as a Mental Health Outreach Worker, you will provide a vital service within the community working with individuals with Mental Health requirements to help improve their quality of life, their ability to sustain their tenancies and the achievement of independent living. You will help to improve their lives by:

- Maximising the independence of people who require support and enabling real choices in how they lead their lives
- Providing housing related support such as supporting people to access their benefits entitlements; pay their rent and household bills; secure appropriate accommodation; access employment, volunteering and training opportunities.
- On occasion assisting some people with shopping, supervising medication, and prompting clients to do domestic chores. Social inclusion support to build confidence in accessing the community.

In addition to the above you would be responsible for:

- Maintaining accurate records of support provided, maintaining risk assessment and support plans
- Working with partner agencies such as Peterborough City Council, NHS services and Cambridgeshire County Council.

**About You**

Sharing our passion for improving lives you will ideally have worked in a similar role supporting individuals with enduring mental health needs. You’ll demonstrate a supportive and caring nature and display good communication and listening skills with a strong ability to provide advice to help our customers. We would also consider individuals interested in pursuing a new career within a Mental Health environment or Social Work environment.

You’ll ideally hold a full driver’s licence and have accessibility to a fleet of pool cars in order for you to carry out your role.

You’ll be comfortable in challenging negative beliefs and provide positive behaviour support. Having some knowledge and understanding of Mental Health and the issues around it would be beneficial.

If you are available to help to help us improve the lives of our customers, then we would love to hear from you.

**How to apply**

**Vetting Requirements**

Naturally working with our customers we need to complete pre-employment checks before you join us. This role is conditional upon receipt of two satisfactory references (one from your current employer). We also need you to tell us what you have been up to as a minimum over the past 5 years in terms of employment history. We recognise, welcome and support that everyone’s employment history is unique and can be different. This could include carer duties, travel, seeking work, education, employment, training, or volunteering.

**Equal Opportunities**

As an equal opportunities’ employer, Longhurst Group is committed to the equal treatment of all current and prospective employees and does not condone discrimination on the basis of age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, gender identity, or marriage and civil partnership.
