Watkin Jones, the UK's leading developer and manager of residential for rent homes, with a focus on the build to rent (BTR), co-living and student accommodation (PBSA) sectors are looking to appoint a Project Director into a new role within the Pre-Construction& Project Management Services team part of the WJ Group Delivery function. The Project Director will be responsible for leading and managing the project management function through delegation to the Project/Assistant Project Managers and their teams. Thisrole is ultimately accountable for the delivery of key capital development schemes (both self-build & 3rd Party build projects) including contractual, cost, design, and procurement activities, providing project coordination and monitoring/reporting throughoutthe development process, from its inception to its completion.

The Project Director reports to the Head of Pre-Construction & Project Management Services and will be a key link between Investment & Development and the WJ Construction Team, as well as third party contractors, external consultants and clients.

This role will focus on the configuration of the project deliverables in respect of the development master programme, design scope and development budget (build cost & project margin). The Project Director will lead the project activities & appointment ofthe 3rd party consultants & contractors and will consult with internal colleagues on proposed configuration of the development, including an inspection of the site. You will agree terms of initial appointment where external consultants are to be used and appointthe professional consultants to undertake development management services if appropriate.

With the development manager and depending on the complexity and size of the proposed development you will approach the planning authority, statutory consultees and interested parties for their initial views. Following on from this you will draft outlinedevelopment programme plan, coordinate the initial estimate of cost and consider potential procurement routes and prepare associated development risks for project risk register and management plan.
