**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job Title**:English Lecturer
**Salary**:£27,996 - £33,413 per annum, pro-rata as applicable
**Hours of Work**:11.7 hours per week
**Holiday**:40 days per annum, pro-rata as applicable
**Reports to**:Katie Bellamy

**JOB PURPOSE**
- To plan and deliver lessons to a range of classes, maintaining a high-quality student learning experience
- To prepare and contextualise the delivery of lessons and continuously assess learner progress in class (formative assessment), giving feedback and maintaining appropriate records
- To formally assess, giving appropriate feedback (written and oral) and maintaining records of students’ progress and development
- To carry out Internal Verification as required
- Undertaking academic tutorial duties, supporting students on an individual basis through academic difficulties
- Participating in and organising extracurricular activities, such as outings, social activities and sporting events
- Participating in and organising departmental meetings, parents' evenings and whole College training events
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to secure and maintain successful relationships
- Ensure all related administration is completed on time and to the required standard.

- The postholder will undertake assigned responsibilities effectively and efficiently within regulatory and legislative requirements; achieve individual and departmental targets within the

College’s annual planning and budgetary constraints and
- The postholder will have a personal and a professional responsibility within the IW College to identify and report abuse. This may be known, suspected, witnessed or have raised concerns.

Early recognition is vital to ensuring the students or staff are safeguarded. The IW College’s procedures must be implemented, working in partnership with the relevant authorities. TheSharing of Information no matter how small is of prime importance in safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. It is the responsibility of the postholder to ensure they are familiar with and adhere to the IW College’s Safeguarding procedures and guidelines. They must attend all safeguarding awareness training and undertake any additional training in relation to safeguarding relevant to the role.

- The postholder must ensure they work in such a way that accidents to themselves and to others are avoided, and to co-operate in maintaining their place of work in a tidy and safe condition, thereby minimising risk. The postholder will, therefore, refer any matters of concern through their respective line managers. Similarly, it is each person’s responsibility to ensure a secure environment and bring any breaches of security to the attention of their managers. It is the postholders responsibility to ensure they comply with and promote College Health and Safety policies and procedures and to undertake recommended Health and Safety training as and when necessary

- Be committed to professional self-development, through participation in in-service training, as necessary for the successful carrying out of the job

- To contribute to and attend College Open Days/Evenings and school and community events throughout the year to ensure highly effective promotion of IAG and the college’s offer
- Other duties as required which are commensurate with the grade of the post.
