Domestic Assistant

The role of our Domestic Assistants is to create a comfortable and clean environment for all service users of the home by cleaning and maintaining all areas of the Home to a high standard, including the laundry of resident’s clothing, bedding and soft furnishings as required.
Central to this role is:
- The provision of **person-centred** domestic services that always ensures the dignity, respect and enablement of all people that use our service
- **Innovation** - looking for new and innovative ways to deliver high levels of cleanliness and hygiene across the Home and seeking out and implementing feedback received.
- Ensuring everyday **excellence **in the delivery of domestic services by working as part of a team in aiming and achieving the highest standards of cleanliness across the home.
You must also be:
- Committed to working within the frameworks set out by the RQIA and other bodies in a manner which underpins the Company’s values, policies and procedures.
- Receptive to ongoing training and demonstrate a desire to invest time and effort in your own personal development
- Maintain resident, staff and business confidentiality at all times. This is inclusive of social media.
Key responsibilities
- Clean all prescribed areas in accordance with daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules, including all floors, carpets, furnishings, fixtures, fittings, paintwork, doors etc, following acceptable cleaning practices - with the equipment and chemicals supplied by the Home.
- Collect waste daily from residents’ bedrooms and all areas of the Home (excluding clinical/yellow waste bags) and put into relevant waste container.
- Replenish soaps, hand towels, toilet rolls etc as required.
- Observe the correct care and use of all equipment.
- Report any defect in equipment or materials to the Nurse in Charge.
- Carry out all duties in a competent and safe manner, being mindful of potential hazards and the safety of residents and other staff.
- Report any accident / incident immediately to the Nurse-in-Charge.
- Participate in staff meetings and mandatory training as required.
- Ensure that all personal information relating to residents remains confidential.
- Be kind and courteous to all service users of the home, providing the necessary assistance and responding to enquiries where required
- Promote and ensure the good reputation of Wood Green Care Home at all times.
- Treat all service users, colleagues and other third parties in and/or associated with the Home with dignity and respect at all times

Essential criteria
In addition to an enthusiastic attitude and a positive approach, we are looking for individuals who demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes:
- Previous experience in a similar role
- A genuine interest and passion for working in an environment with people with various care needs and making a positive difference to all aspects of their daily living experience;
- A confident communicator with a good command of the English language, both written and spoken, who builds rapport easily with residents, relatives and colleagues;
- Ability to use own initiative and to work as a team player who can work effectively as a key member of a care team which is focused on delivering excellence;
- Kindness, empathy and an acute understanding of the challenges facing residents as they come to terms with living in a care environment;
- The ability satisfy the requirements of an Enhanced Access NI check.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £11.44 per hour
Expected hours: 15 - 22 per week
