Our Maternity team provides services across Chester caring for around 2200 families each year. Due to the retirement of our exceptional current post holder, we are seeking an enthusiastic, driven and passionate senior leader as our next Head of Midwifery at The Countess of Chester. This is an incredibly exciting time to join our Midwifery team, providing an excellent opportunity to influence and develop our maternity service model for the future.
We are seeking a Head of Midwifery who will provide strong and inspirational leadership, keeping the care of women, their families, and the maternity workforce central to all that they do.
Applicants must be a registered Midwife with relevant senior management experience in an NHS organization. They will be able to demonstrate a track record of leading innovation and service improvement and will possess sound knowledge of current issues impacting maternity services nationally and locally.
**Working hours**: 37.5 per week.
Leading by example is crucial in collaborative working within the multidisciplinary team to maintain the Trust s values and maternity s philosophy of care. We are very proud of the maternity services that we provide and are looking for influential midwifery leaders to continue raising the standard of clinical practice.
You will be resilient and able to manage complex situations as well as being well organised and innovative. A proven track record of supporting change processes, coupled with good influencing and negotiation skills are key attributes required for these posts in order to provide an integrated and effective service focusing on the delivery and assurance of safe, high quality patient care across our services. In this key role you will work closely with all department Managers, the Midwifery Matron and Director of Midwifery.
The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust consists of a 600 bedded large District General Hospital, which provides its services on the Countess of Chester Health Park, and a 64 bedded Intermediate Care Service at Ellesmere Port Hospital.
The Trust provides services in all of the surgical and medical specialties common to a District General Hospital with some specialist services. The Trust serves the whole of the local population currently in excess of 250,000 residents which geographically covers populations in England and North Wales.
The Trust strives to continuously improve and sustain the quality of its services for patients, providing care to more than 445,000 patients per year, with almost 4,000 staff working together putting quality and patient safety, at the heart of everything we do. The organisation provides a wide range of services offering health care to the whole spectrum of the population from birth to the end of life. The Trust complies with its terms of authorisation as a Foundation Trust.
