Youth Coordinator

**To play a leading role in developing a High Street presence (the Depot) within the community for and with young people.**

The post holder will be responsible for establishing a programme that engages young people across the Parish of Billingshurst, including establishing a Youth Forum based at The Depot.

**Specific Responsibilities**
- Get to know the Parish, the community’s needs, strengths, challenges and opportunities especially in regard to children and young people
- To support the work of Billingshurst Parish Council to shape the young person’s strategy across the Parish. Including discharging action points
- To fully engage and participate in the development of a Youth Engagement Programme in particular annual planning, evaluation, resource identification, priorities and seeking funding for this post
- To develop and maintain relationships with other Children and Young People organisations including local schools to offer young people in t Parish the best possible start in life. Work with these groups to support the community.
- Take an active lead in delivering participation programmes that develop young people's skills and confidence
- Seeking daytime hirers / users of the Depot in Billingshurst High Street to complement the Youth EngagementPprogramme and to raise income for continuation of the role.
- Planning and delivery of young people events throughout the year.
- To develop key relationships with Volunteers, Parish Councillors & working parties, Horsham District Council, West Sussex County Council, Sussex Police and External Funders.
- To develop a forum for young people to work with Billingshurst Parish Council, which will feed into the strategic planning of services within the Parish. Once established responsibility for the administration of the Youth Council.
- Encourage local youth residents to participate in Council activities and decision-making as working party group members and volunteers.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Part-time hours: 14 per week

**Salary**: From £10,750.00 per year

- Billingshurst: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- A-Level or equivalent (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Working with children and young people: 5 years (required)
- Professionally Qualified Youth Work: 5 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Driver's License (preferred)
