BAR BACK
Are you aged 16+ with no previous bar/work experience and a desire to work your way into a bartending position? Then getting a job as a bar-back is the one for you
There’s a reason the bar-back’s called the “bartender’s sidekick” The bar-back is responsible for doing all of the invisible little tasks that ensure the bar and bartenders are able to do their job quickly and efficiently. These include:
- Replacing fridge and shelf stock
- Preparing fruit and other garnishes
- Emptying glass washers, cleaning and refilling glassware
- Stocking out beer mats, straws and other bar essentials
- Changing kegs
- Cleaning the bar top and behind the bar
- Keeping sinks clean and unblocked
- And lots of running
The bar-back’s job is all about working ahead, managing your time well and anticipating the needs of the bartenders you are working with.
It’s a physically demanding job You’ll be moving kegs, carrying multiple crates of booze around all night, lugging around buckets of ice to multiple bars and basically running from the minute you are on the clock until the minute you leave. If you ever wanted to get a high score with your Fitbit, this is the job for you.
