As a major Strategic Business Unit within NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale - through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards of patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.
**The Post**:
This is an excellent opportunity to join the team of Biomedical Scientists and Biomedical Support Workers working within the Components Department. The Components Department provides an essential service towards the provision of healthcare in Scotland. The department is responsible for manufacturing specialised blood components from both whole blood and apheresis collections and has a vital role in the supply of high quality blood components to other SNBTS sites and hospitals throughout Scotland.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists to join the Components Department and work in the new state of the art Manufacturing Laboratory within the Jack Copland Centre. Experience of working in a transfusion/pathology laboratory and/or component production environment would be useful but is not essential. This position provides an exciting and challenging opportunity for suitably experienced, qualified and motivated Healthcare professionals.

**Location and Working Pattern**:
SNBTS, National Centre, Jack Copland Centre, Heriot-Watt Research Park, Edinburgh.
Monday to Sunday, 37.5 hours per week. This is a shift working position working a variety of shifts (Day shift, Back shift and nightshift, 365 days a year 24/7. This is worked on a shift roster so days of working each week will vary depending on scheduled shift.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
