**Position Summary**

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced insurance products expert with a strong background and proven track record in aspects of products and wordings development, management, innovation and associated support, looking to work in a fast paced, friendly and collaborative team.

The Senior Product Specialist will be responsible for managing a varied workload across
- the management of a portfolio of insurance products for creation, revision or review, working closely with all aspects of the business, including underwriters, claims, legal and actuarial to achieve market leading standards of product design and reliability;
- providing product focussed advice to underwriters on relevant matters and working to resolve product related challenges as they arise;
- leading and being a key stakeholder on project related projects across the business; and
- contributing to product innovation in our chosen markets, challenging the status quo and looking to bring fresh ideas and approaches across product design and distribution.

Key to the this role will be an open and analytical mind-set to deliver both technically astute drafting and review work but also commercial pragmatism. As a key stakeholder to the Underwriting function, the role presents more than just a need for a product viewpoint, bringing commercial and intellectual input as a valued adviser and trusted partner that allows a depth of interaction and involvement across all areas of underwriting practice and strategy, ensuring that our products reflect accurately underwriting intent

A strong focus on understanding and advising on key underwriting product documents including policy wordings and slips, schedules and proposal forms will be core to delivery of the support required, but also a wider understanding and ability to work and deliver in line with wider product initiatives across digital distribution platforms, packaged multi line forms and multinational programmes will all be part of the challenges available.

Working in a small but highly experienced team there will also be an opportunity for learning and development and to lead or participate in other departmental projects and initiatives. These may include co-ordinating and managing projects and work-streams in partnership with other CNA Hardy functions, managing internal stakeholders and reporting and escalating matters as appropriate.

**Key Responsibilities and Deliverables**

Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

- Oversees and approves standard policy documents updates; creates supporting documentation to include coverage matrix, key facts, schedules and endorsements.
- Drives the production of guidelines and checklists to assist Underwriters in reviewing and approving non-standard documents.
- Directs the work activities of staff to support policy issuing system development and internal policy systems.
- Collaborates with the legal function to monitor coverage litigation and update standard policy documents.
- Responsible for refining standard policy documents, rationalising Definitions and General Conditions, building up precedents.
- Comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and ensure, at a level appropriate to the position, that appropriate measures are in place to ensure this compliance
- May perform other duties as required.

**Specialist Skills, Knowledge & Experience**
- Significant practical experience in an insurance company or broker, or with a law firm specialising in insurance, dealing specifically with drafting, reviewing and advising Underwriters and/or Claims Technicians in connection with insurance policy wordings.
- Extensive experience in Property & Casualty or Specialty lines of insurance and a strong understanding of some of the CNA Hardy insurance lines an advantage.
- Additional European Languages at a high level of reading and writing an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to act independently and mange an ongoing workload without significant oversight whilst producing consistent work product in line with goals.
- Ability to review, redraft and analyse complex policy wordings and slip documentation essential.
- Commercial mind set which is able to balance legal concepts and issues against commercial realities, delivering balanced pragmatic product advice.

- Excellent collaboration skills - someone who can work well with Underwriting and Claims, and our Continental and US teams; can do training presentations
- Project management skills - can manage multiple wordings / classes simultaneously and take responsibility for delivery of their own workload with limited supervision
