The Bishop Wheeler Catholic Academy Trust are recruiting keen, organised, skilled individuals to provide professional clerking services to our Academy Councils. The Clerk provides the governors with record keeping, meeting planning and minute taking in addition to advice on procedure and legal matters. The Clerk’s role is a varied, very interesting and rewarding role, we have 13 schools within BWCAT and we are looking to extend our clerking team. The role is well suited to someone looking for flexible work around existing commitments or a part time role.

The professional Clerk will contribute towards the efficient functioning of an Academy Council by providing:

- Administrative and organisational support.
- Guidance to ensure that the Academy Council works in compliance with the appropriate legal and regulatory framework and the Trust’s Scheme of Delegation.
- Advice on procedural matters relating to the operation of the Academy Council.
- Clerk 6 meetings at each allocated school per academic year (2 hours approx. per meeting).
- Arranging meetings, liaising with the headteacher of the school, the chairs of the school Academy Council regarding the preparation of agendas and the synchronising of meetings over the academic year.
- Taking accurate minutes at the meetings, sharing minutes for approval, and maintaining an accurate archive of documentation required for compliance purposes.

Attendance at School for Academy Council meetings is essential. Meetings are ordinarily early evening during school term time, however, all administrative support activity can be undertaken at home. A laptop will be provided and you will need to have access to the internet.
