Waste Crane Operator

The Waste Crane Operator is responsible as part of a shift team for the safe and efficient operation of the cranes controlling both the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) and Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA) levels at Runcorn EfW.

Your duties will include the mixing, stacking and loading of the materials feeding the RDF into the furnaces and loading IBA into vehicles

**PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Continuous personal development within the organisation to achieve a higher potential.
- Carry out routine tasks and testing of plant equipment. Update the shift log including plant and process changes, diligent shift handover to ensure effective communication to the following shift.
- Direction of people on outside plant and communication i.e. dealing with telephone calls in accordance with the Runcorn procedure.
- Assist with all shutdown activities within the plant ensuring plant downtime is minimised
- Control of vehicle movements in the Ash loading area ensuring compliance at all times.
- Control the loading of IBA vehicles in conjunction with the Viridor Logistics team.
- Operation of overhead cranes.
- Operation of the RDF and IBA cranes working on a 2 days 2 nights 4 off shift pattern.
- Assist in completion of relevant reports as required.
- Ensure that all defect reporting within CMMS is effective and followed through to completion.
- Ensure that all activities within the plant are carried out in a safe manner in line with Runcorn safety policy and all HSE requirements.
- Comply with all PPE requirements including COSHH chemical handling.
- Report any potential safety issues and control any hazards as required.
- Carry out risk assessments to ensure activities are completed in a safe manner at all times.
- Work as part of a team striving for continual improvement in minimising Health Safety and Environmental risks at the plant.
- Housekeeping is to be carried out on a regular basis to ensure a high standard of site cleanliness.
- Continuous and routine monitoring of the plant to minimise environmental impacts.
- Ensure compliance with the IPPC authorisation at all times.

**KEY JOB ELEMENTS**
- Ensure all transport activities are performed within the correct methods established through company Health and safety guidance, in line with risk assessments and safe operating procedures.
- Report any potential safety issues and control any hazards as required.
- Carry out risk assessments to ensure activities are completed in a safe manner at all times.

**Salary**: Up to £30,000.00 per year
