Sheffield, United Kingdom Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

This post provides and exciting opportunity to join an enthusiastic team within one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in the country. You will work as part of a team working collaboratively both within the Directorate but also across the wider Trust using your skills to improve and support clinical information systems in use within Laboratory Medicine, and within Blood Sciences in particular.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and should be able to demonstrate good organisational skills as well as the ability to work systematically through problems.

You will be a highly motivated individual, and though not essential, you will ideally have some experience of working in an NHS laboratory setting or working in an IT-related support role within the wider NHS. An understanding of Laboratory Information Systems and other systems in use across the NHS is preferable.

Above all you will be committed to your own development and show a willingness to learn new skills and develop your own knowledge.

The role can support hybrid working and the Trust considers all flexible working requests in line with the needs to the service.
- The STH Pathology Service relies on IM&T to support its operational needs.
- Work as part of the Laboratory Medicine Core IT Team designing, developing, implementing and maintaining systems, interfaces and data transfer systems to support the core business of the directorate.
- Designated IT Subject Matter Expert in relation to Blood Sciences, understanding the requirements and processes in that area, leading on IT projects within it.
- Maintenance of Laboratory Medicine IT and data transfer systems, both in-house developed software and externally procured software.
- Provide IT support to Directorate staff to encompass all platforms, systems and associated connectivity and software packages regularly communicating highly complex information to individuals or groups in a way in which they can understand.
- Provide support to external users related to connectivity and access to Laboratory results, both within the Trust and external customers.
- Enable, promote and support the effective use of data, information, knowledge and technology to support and improve health and health care delivery.

You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors and provides excellent benefits for its staff. This includes commitments to professional development but also many policies to support employees in balancing their personal and professional lives.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for the maximum period of 32 months (until the end of May 2026). Where there is potential, the secondment/fixed term contract may finish early, or in the first instance, the secondment/fixed term contract may be extended due to the internal/external secondment of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and secondments in relation to the substantive post holder.

Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager.
