Proposed Interview Dates: All day Friday 1st September 2023. Afternoon of Monday 4th September 2023.

**JOB PURPOSE**

To provide emotional, practical and flexible advice and guidance to families to suit their individual needs and manage relevant risks. Coordinate support and connect families to the appropriate professionals and services with a view to gain positive outcomes for the whole family. The advisor is required to work with a multi-agency team of Family Support Workers, Voluntary and Statutory services.

**MAIN DUTIES**

To offer emotional and practical support to parents and their families who are identified as requiring Early Help.

To provide lower intensity practical support to prevent crises in partnership with other agencies after assessing needs.

To understand the context and remit of the Early Help offer and the necessary focus to the work.

To ensure you have an understanding (appropriate to your role) of, and comply with procedures, for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.

To build a trusting relationship with the parents to help alleviate or break their social isolation and increase capacity.

To build up knowledge, understanding and make effective referrals into local resources and community and statutory services, including Mental Health Teams, Social Services, Birmingham Childrens Trust, Health Teams, Schools and voluntary services and communicate effectively with them in the best interests of the family and children.

To undertake shared responsibility of Early Help administration duties and data entry duties.

To comply with Northfield Community Partnership’s (NCP) policies and procedures in every aspect of your work and positively promote the principles of these policies amongst colleagues, service users and other members of the community.

To contribute to the effective implementation of NCPs Diversity and Equality Policy as it affects both NCP and its work with vulnerable adults.

Keep all clients details confidential adhering to GDPR.

To work alongside colleagues to assess the needs of the families referred for support and participate in the reviews and evaluation of the work.

To help plan creative and innovative responses to families’ needs and keep high quality records and assist with the preparation of reports.

To track, follow up, and reengage with client (if needed), to monitor success of the service.

To produce testimonials of client’s journeys and case studies for management reports and funders as required.

To attend Early Help and NCP events, drop-in sessions, conferences, review meetings, allocation meetings, supervision and training sessions as requested and undertake Early Help support and admin duties if/when required.

To at all times undertake your role in a professional manner maintaining a high-quality standard of work, and to always work in accordance with the aims, values and ethos of NCP.

To work flexibly as will be required by the needs of the service and carry out any other reasonable duties as required.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**

**Experience/Knowledge**

An awareness of the issues that face families and children needing Early Help support.

Knowledge and experience of working collaboratively with voluntary, statutory, and private sector agencies.

Experience of assessing client needs and delivering informed interventions to ensure client needs are identified and met.

Experience of working within a team to achieve strong and effective relationships with others to achieve organisational aims and objectives.

Experience of working in charity or community led environment.

Experience of working with vulnerable, unemployed and socially excluded clients.

Understanding of Safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults.

Experience of working in culturally diverse communities.

Ability to give accurate information and practical support to family members of all ages.

Good understanding of GDPR.

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages.
