L&Q are looking for a Head of Compliance and Engagement to join the growing Building Compliance team within Property Services. This newly created position oversees operational Building services teams covering Lifts and Security, Electrical Safety, Water, Asbestos and Customer Engagement. This Senior position reports to the Director of Building Compliance and has links far and wide to other stakeholders and departments within L&Q.

The Head of Compliance and Engagement will ensure a consistent approach to quality compliance management through servicing, maintenance and repairs within their area. Ensuring that appropriate procedures are put in place and maintained to comply with statute and the trusts policies and high standards.

The post holder will focus on improving and maintaining engagement and excellent customer service. They will be responsible for ensuring that we meet both statutory and non-statutory requirements in relation to legislation and associated building regulations. The post holder will be competent in providing a professional advisory service within all areas of compliance and safety management.

Being able to manage a team is essential to the role. The post holder will manage a team of experts in their fields. Setting objectives and goals and managing KPIs. Promoting best practice and a Health and Safety Culture. You will provide leadership in compliance and building service to achieve L&Q’s mission whilst creating the culture in line with L&Q’s values to deliver responsible growth, customer satisfaction and financial strength.

The post holder will have a strong ability to influence and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. They will do this through having excellent knowledge of compliance, contract management and safety and through excellent communication skills tailored to the audience and through different channels.

A large part of this role will be to focus on engagement, reduce Compliance related complaints and to provide residents with a good safety focused service where they feel confident in L&Qs delivery of the Compliance provision.
- Demonstrable relevant compliance and building services experience gained within a multi-site, housing sector environment
- Preferred degree educated or professional qualification / membership in one of the key compliance workstreams
- Excellent knowledge of compliance regulation within areas in the remit
- Highly experienced people manager
- Strong financial acumen and experience of managing complex budgets
- Excellent organisational, analytical, and inter-personal skills

The Head of Building Compliance and Engagement will ensure statutory, regulatory & governance compliance for areas they control. Using both performance data received from operational teams and information gathered through audits, incident investigation and enforcement bodies, provide regular updates to senior management, Executive Group and Board members as appropriate on the current position highlighting areas requiring improvement.

We are a multi-site organisation, so some roles may require occasional travel between offices, but expenses will be covered.
