We are looking to recruit an experienced Plant Fitter to join our established team in Carlisle. We have a busy well-equiped, modern workshop and own a large fleet of plant from basic hand equipment to HGV and large, heavy machinery and excavators. We have invested in several innovative plant solutions for Construction operation which improve efficiency and productivity.

This is a full time role with overtime available after weekly qualifying hours are acheived.

Main responsibilities will include:

- Inspecting company owned assets from small hand tools, plant heavy plant and HGV equipment for defects using specialist diagnostic equipment
- Diagnosis and reporting of faulty plant equipment to the transport manager and construction team
- Undertaking routine inspections of engines, gearboxes, hydraulics, electrical systems, tyres and frames
- Carrying out planned/cyclical maintenance requirements based on machine hours operated to a high standard
- Explaining faults to colleagues and managers in a non-technical manner
- Carrying out pre work checks on new equipment before it is used on site
- Safely operating machinery to test and commission plant on private land
- Responding to off site plant breakdowns
- Ensuring tasks are completed in an efficient and timely manner, to the correct standard.
- Following all relevant health and safety, fire, emergency evacuation, quality, risk, COSHH assessments and procedures
- Maintaining a clear, safe, tidy, effective and efficient working environment
- Work independently as well as part of a team.

Requirements or Skills:

- A relevant qualification in Plant Manintenance or Machinery Maintenance or qualified by experience
- Experience and knowledge of working on heavy mobile plant, mechanical repair and maintenance including HGV tractor units and trailers, large rollers, dumpers, ADT, all size 360 excavators and telehandlers
- A valid UK driving licence/Class 2 LGV would be beneficial
- Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical fault finding
- Safely using welding and cutting equipment including Oxy Acetylene, Gas Axe and MIG/TIG welders
- Ability to plan and resource your own workload around workshop operations whilst liaising with the transport manager
- keeping accurate records of work carried out on machinery/updating asset equipment ready for external client audit

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £14.00-£16.00 per hour
