**Responsible to**:Owner**/**Manager

**Purpose of Job**:To provide nutritious meals and snacks for the children and to ensure the general smooth running of the kitchen with minimum waste. To adhere to all Health and Safety requirements and documentation as required by Environmental Health.

**Responsibilities**:
**1. **To ensure that all areas in the kitchen and food preparation areas are cleaned thoroughly each day. All bins emptied daily and kept clean.

**2. **To prepare and cook nutritionally balanced meals and snacks with minimum waste and assist staff to serve as required.

**3. **To be mindful of special dietary requirements/allergies.

**4. **To maintain kitchen equipment, reporting defects immediately and complete the written records as required on a daily basis.

**5. **To deal with Environmental Health when necessary

**6. **To wash dishes and cutlery after each meal. Empty dishwasher after lunch.

**7. **To clean down kitchen daily. To brush and mop floors daily and dispose of waste from the kitchen area as necessary to maintain safety.

**8. **To carry out cleaning down of all areas on a weekly basis i.e. shelving/fridge

**9. **To monitor stock levels daily and inform management in advance when supplies need to be replenished.

**10. **To liase with management in selection of menus to ensure the children receive a balanced and varied diet at all times.

**11. **Meals prepared are morning snack, dinner, dessert and afternoon snack.

**12. **To prepare afternoon snacks for each group ensuring the children receive nutritious snacks and drinks and is left readily available for staff for the required time.

**13. **To upgrade qualifications as requested by Management, Environmental Health or Social Services. Management will help to cover these costs.

**14. **Although vetted to work in a childcare setting, the cook will have mínimal contact with the children, and then, on the verbal basis only.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Temporary contract
Contract length: 10 months

**Salary**: £10.50-£11.50 per hour

Expected hours: 18 - 21 per week
