We are currently looking for a Trainee Accountant to join our growing Outsourcing division in our Oxford office. This is a full-time permanent position.

**The Role**

This is a Trainee position and full training and support will be given to develop your skills and abilities for a long-term career within our practice. Your key responsibilities would include the below:

- Building productive working relationships within Shaw Gibbs and with clients as required
- Processing sales and purchase invoices and reconciling the bank account
- Preparing monthly and quarterly VAT returns for sole traders, limited companies and partnerships
- Producing profit and loss accounts and balance sheets
- Preparing basic tax computations and returns e.g. corporation tax, VAT
- Helping to prepare statutory accounts and finalize accounts under the overall supervision of your Line Manager
- Process payrolls on a weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly basis (or as directed) for a range of clients of various sizes and from a diverse range of businesses
- Process starters and leavers, calculating statutory payments, RTI submissions, Pension Deductions etc.
- Liaise directly with clients to ensure accuracy of payroll data and answer phone queries, resolve problems and provide payroll support

**About You**

We would like to hear from you if you are a **quick learner** and can tick all of the below:

- Are educated to A ‘Level (or equivalent standard) or higher e.g. degree
- If you are a school leaver - you must have a minimum of 3 A Levels at grades B, B, C (6,6,5/4) or higher
- Strong aptitude for IT, specifically Excel
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Proven communication skills, verbal and written
- A positive, confident and proactive attitude
- Enjoy working as part of a team and self-motivated
- Willingness to undertake and succeed in a range of professional studies
- Relevant work experience would be great but not essential
