The Outreach Team was established as a ‘model’ community-based multidisciplinary rehabilitation team in the early 1990s, the practitioners currently comprise a Clinical Neuropsychologist, a Clinical Psychologist, two Physiotherapists, two Occupational Therapists, two Speech and Language Therapist and a Rehabilitation Assistant.

It provides assessment and intervention to adults with acquired brain injury [ABI], at any stage post-injury, living within approximately an hour’s travel time from Homerton (broadly, greater London and Essex). There are 2 pathways of IDT neuro rehabilitation and vocational rehabilitation for highly specialist intervention.

The post-holder will assume strategic leadership of the team - ensuring the team continues to provide a sustainable model of specialist brain injury rehabilitation and evidence based, innovative working.

The post-holder will also provideprofessional and clinical leadership to the team in the provision of community-based specialist rehabilitation services to adults with acquired neurological impairment of a complex nature. Hold a small clinical caseload and will act as an expert resource to colleagues and service users.

**Main duties include**:

- Alongside the interim operational manager, negotiating, communicating, and monitoring the achievement of annual targets relating to clinical activity, strategic objectives, and clinical developments. This role is expected to be developmental towards taking on operational management of the team.
- Team leadership working in conjunction with their professional line managers to ensure effective communication and high calibre working practices in keeping with overall service objective
- Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based treatment plans.
- To exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the speciality area, reporting to the Head of Neuropsychology.
