The European operation is a medium sized business and has around 21 employees working out of two offices one based in St Margarets (Richmond) and the other close to Gatwick Airport.

**The Position /Opportunity**

It is an exciting opportunity for askilled Book keeper, non or part qualified to lead two accounts assistants responsible for running the accounting and financial activities of an organisation. This role provides financial information to other departments, enabling these departments to make budgeting and investment decisions and works closely with our parent company based in the United States, Texas. The Book keeper reports on costs, revenue, margins and company expenditures.

**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Manage the month end in a timely manner to ensure all income and cost streams are correctly recorded.
- Prepare and post all journals for month end including accruals, prepayments, depreciation and payroll.
- Produce all monthly balance sheet reconciliations including fixed assets, prepayments, sales and purchase ledger control, accruals and intercompany transactions.
- Manage Bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
- Assisting with the preparation of year-end accounts and statutory accounts.
- Responding to financial inquiries by gathering and interpreting data.
- Conducting internal audits such as wage reviews or checking margins in the booking system.
- Liaise and manage the relationship with external accountants and other professional bodies e.g. Office for National Statistics.
- Responsible for overhead payments and travel product supplier payments.
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns to HMRC.
- Manage payroll data provided by outsourced provider and pay PAYE/NI to HMRC.
- Provide support for yearly P11Ds and PSAs and send to the payroll provider for processing.
- Manage pension payments and submissions.
- Managing and training staff when necessary.
- Any ad hoc duties as requested by senior management e.g. prepare budgets or cash flow statements.

**Competences**
- Non Qualified or Newly Qualified Accountant or finalist (ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
- At least 3 years’ experience with management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
- An analytical mind.
- Negotiation skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships.
- Commercial and business awareness.
- Good communication skills - both written and verbal.
- A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data.
- Deadline-orientated and an ability to stick to time constraints.

**Other Skills**:

- Good knowledge Quick Books necessary
- Advanced Excel skills (V-look ups) beneficial

**Location**:St Margaretsnear Richmond.
