We have a wonderful opportunity to join Lionel Cosins Ward as one of our Healthcare Assistants, working within a dynamic area of Care of the Elderly at Basildon Hospital with a very supportive team

As our Healthcare Assistant (HCA) you will work, under supervision, as a member of a multidisciplinary team and beexpected to perform a wide range of duties to deliver best possible care for patients admitted.

The clinical part of your role will include assisting qualified members of staff with end of life care, assisting medical staff with on ward procedures, daily monitoring of all patients on ward, attending to patients activities of daily living and will require intermediate computer skills.

You will be expected to support and offer suggestions in improving the delivery of care to patients and service users. able to ensure that admission and assessment documentation is completed for all in patients, and assist in training and development of other members of the MDT and must possess excellent communication skills, ensure, monitor and maintain health and safety in the work place as described in duties and responsibilities.

You must have a good understanding and be able to demonstrate to other members of nursing staff aspects infection control, able to report and or act appropriately upon changes in a patient’s condition or any problems or hazards within the department to the nurse in charge.

You will need a good understanding and be able to discuss and demonstrate, skin care regimes in relation to tissue viability, prepare blood/specimen cards as requested, obtain blood samples as per trust policy and be able to identify, assess and manage/report potential risks in work activities in work.
