**Basildon Maths Teacher**
You will be working alongside the Teaching and Learning Manager and a group of GCSE, Functional Skills and Practical Skills Tutors.
Students are referred to our inclusion programme and are often challenging (academically and/or behaviourally). You will take an active role in helping to equip students with the skills they will require as they transfer to the world of work.
**Key Areas**:
- Delivering Maths (Functional Skills and GCSE) to small groups of students (normally a maximum of twelve)
- Working with other teachers and the Vice Principal, developing schemes of work and lesson plans
- Marking of work and assessment for learning within the Maths team
- Developing relationships and offering support to challenging students in order for them to achieve
- Liaising with colleagues to monitor student progress, behaviour and attendance
- Keeping up-to-date registers on attendance and progress and ensuring that information on student progress is tracked in the database
- Produce individual learning plans and set appropriate targets
- Attend meetings with parents and schools as required
**Other areas**:
- prepare reports for your manager as required
- attend meetings and keep records, as appropriate (may involve some unsocial hours)
- Be familiar with the Health and Safety Policy and ensure that high standards of Health and Safety are observed, including when working off site and/or within other institutions
- Be familiar with the Equal Opportunities Policy and put it into practice
**Person Specification**:
- Experience in tutoring / teaching GCSE Maths and/or Functional Skills Maths
- Ideally hold one or be working towards one of the following qualifications DET, Cert Ed, QTS / QTLS
- Ability to form productive relationships with young people who can be among the more challenging
- Good team working skills
- A flexible approach to both delivery and working methods / regimes
- High level of ICT skills (MS Office including word, excel, access and PowerPoint)
- Ability to plan and prepare training sessions
- Ability to deliver projects to time and on target
- Ability to work and prioritise in an organised manner
- High motivation and the ability to take initiatives
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

**Hours**:
Term time - 39 weeks, plus 2 weeks holiday INSET days, (41 weeks per annum)
- Monday to Thursday 8:30 to 16:30
- Tuesday - 8:30 to 17:00
- Friday - 8:30 to 16:00
(Contact with students 9.30 to 15.00)
**Holiday entitlement**
20 days to be taken during school holidays plus bank holidays (5.6 weeks)
**Salary Range**
negotiable, depending on experience and qualifications
Teacher Salary Range (DET, Cert Ed, QTS/QTLS)
£24,318 to £30,240
