Specialist Dietitian

To provide evidence based dietetic advice to children and their families/carers in conjunction with the Senior Specialist Dietitian. To provide Nutrition and Dietetic services to children and their families/carers in conjunction with the Senior Specialist Dietitian. This will involve assessing the nutritional status of patients and the development of dietary care plans for children within both in-patient and out-patient settings. To be clinically competent to provide specialist advice, treatment and dietary counselling to children and their families/carers.

To work as an autonomous practitioner within appropriate clinical and professional guidelines and as part of a team. To contribute to the development of dietetic resources for children and families/carers. To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of dietary treatment. To take an active part in the training of trainee Dietitians.

To undertake an annual appraisal with the Senior Specialist Dietitian. To identify personal training needs undertaking relevant CPD opportunities to develop new and to maintain and update existing skills. To help to provide cover for colleagues. To undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade/band as requested by the Head of Dietetics.
