The ModConFlex consortium brings together 17 academic and industrial partners across Europe. It aims to train the next generation of researchers on the modelling and control of flexible structures interacting with fluids, using and contributing to the latest advances in control theory, artificial intelligence and energy-based modelling. It will provide the Researchers with extensive technical and interpersonal skills training. The Researcher will be expected to attend the training program (including internship opportunities) of the ModConFlex consortium.

It is essential that you have a good honours degree in the fields of Control Engineering, Machine Learning, Data science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. You will have a developing research profile with the ability to publish high quality research output. You will have excellent IT skills including demonstrable ability to use IT to write technical research papers and presentations. You are also required to be an excellent communicator with strong communication skills and be able to evidence excellent interpersonal skills with relevant experience of working independently and as part of a team.

You will be required to meet Marie Curie Researcher eligibility criteria. As a condition of the project at the time of recruitment the researcher shall NOT have resided or carried out their main activity in the UK for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to their recruitment under the project, and you must not have been awarded a doctoral degree. Applicants must be in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research career (e.g. working as a researcher after obtaining your Master’s degree) and you will be registered, or demonstrate a willingness to register, for a PhD degree at the University of Warwick.

Funding is for 3 years with salary at £41,646.95 per annum. You are expected to start as soon as possible but not later than 1 Feb 2024.

**JOB PURPOSE**

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

1. Help establish a sound research base within the department in order to assist the development of research objectives and proposals for own or joint research.

2. Conduct individual and collaborative research projects.

3. Write up research work for publication.

6. May present information on research progress and outcomes to bodies supervising research, e.g. steering groups.

7. May contribute to the preparation of papers for steering groups and other bodies.

8. Communicate complex information (orally and in writing) and material of a specialist or highly technical nature.

9. Continually update own knowledge and understanding in field or specialism.

10. Could be expected to contribute to the teaching and learning programmes in the department.

11. Assist in the supervision of student projects and the development of student research skills.

12. May be involved in the assessment of student knowledge and supervision of projects.

13. To contribute to School of Engineering committees and administrative duties and tasks.

14. Ensure compliance with health and safety in all aspects of work.

15. Work within budget constraints.

Any other duties as directed by the Principal Investigator of the project.
